Tips for Warm Weather Outings

Summer is the perfect time to find new adventures with your family. But, along with the sun can come intense heat. These tips and tricks will help you and your little ones stay cool and safe on warm weather outings.

Go Early
Mornings or evenings are your best bet when the forecast is calling for a scorcher. Avoid the midday heat by getting an early start or heading out when things begin to cool down (after 3pm). It helps to have a list of fun things you can do indoors to keep the family occupied in-between outdoor activities.

Take Breaks
Kids of all ages can get burned out if you don’t stop for breaks along the way. Whether hiking a trail or heading to the zoo, plan for some downtime throughout the day. It could be grabbing a snack, stretching your legs, or just sitting down in the shade.

Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated is key—so be sure to pack enough water to go around. In addition to drinks, treats like popsicles or frozen fruit can cool things off when the weather’s heating up. Handlebar consoles are great for fitting in everything you need to sip and snack throughout the day.

Cover Up
Warm weather accessories can help beat the heat by keeping your kiddo covered. Many strollers have canopies with UPF protection to shield them from harmful rays. You can also pick up a sun or weather shield that fits around the stroller to keep them cool and comfortable, rain or shine.

Dress Properly
Make sure you and the kids are dressed properly for sunny weather. Loose-fitting, light-colored breathable fabric is best. Choose airy clothes that let air flow through, and look for shirts with built-in UV protection for when you spend time in direct sunlight.

Have Fun!
Now you’re ready to get out there and make the most of these long summer days. Happy Adventuring!
